Larkspur is a place where residents enjoy taking a neighborhood stroll through quiet streets, savoring the refreshing scent of juniper all the while.
The borders of the Larkspur neighborhood run roughly from Highway 20 and Franklin Blvd on the north to Reed Market Road on the south, and from the Parkway on the west to the eastern border of the Urban Growth Boundary.

Facilities
Bend Senior Center

Bend Senior Center is a community-centered facility that inspires learning, health, and wellness for active older adults. In line with that, they offer activities and programs that are designed to promote active healthy lifestyles through health, education, recreation, socialization, and volunteer opportunities. Vince Genna Stadium

Historic Vince Genna Stadium was built in 1964 and later named after its builder – “Mr. Baseball” himself, Vince Genna. High school, American Legion, and semi-professional teams initially utilized the stadium. Baseball is a part of our history in Bend. And today? Today, its good old-fashioned baseball brought to you by the Bend Elks Baseball Club.
Parks
PUBLIC HEALTH ALERT: For all BPRD parks and trails
It’s summer and you want to play. It’s okay; you can with a few reminders:
- Distancing is a must when you visit a Bend Park & Recreation District park, trail, recreation center and even the river.
- Stay six feet from others, indoors and out.Wash hands before and after any visit to a park or trail.
- Visit less popular parks and trails or at less popular times.Go only with your household or small groups. No large groups.
- Keep dogs on leash; It’s the law in Bend except at designated off leash areas.
- Bring your own drinking water. Drinking fountains are not available.
- If you are sick, stay home.
Larkspur Park
As a companion to the Bend Senior Center, the park offers traditional neighborhood park amenities plus some community features to create a multi-generational atmosphere attracting park visitors from all areas of Bend. Larkspur Park has benches, paver walkways, Larkspur Trail, a restroom, a meadow, a shade shelter, bocce court, horseshoe court, pickleball court, basketball court, and other active areas. The picnic shelter has a capacity of 16.
Jaycee Park

This small neighborhood park is set in an older subdivision located between Highway 97 and the railroad. The site has mature conifer trees and it borders the railroad tracks. A new playground was installed in 2007. The park is within walking distance of Genna Stadium and Kiwanis Park. On-street parking is provided.
Ponderosa Park

This community park is conveniently located in an older neighborhood in south-central Bend, near Bear Creek grade school. The ball field hosts adult softball and youth soccer games during the spring, summer, and fall. New and improved features include a skatepark, pickleball court, basketball court, playground, restrooms, walking trail, off-leash dog park area, picnic shelter, and large lawns for play and picnicking. The new skatepark is very popular and enthusiasts can be found there from dawn to dusk almost every day of the year.
Gardenside Park

This park, east of 27th Street, features a playground, picnic shelter and access to neighborhood green space. A unique picnic shelter with a capacity of 15 is located next to the playground. Open lawn areas offer a shady meeting place and connections to local trails.
Trails
Larkspur Trail

The Larkspur Trail begins in Larkspur Park, site of the Bend Senior Center. This lovely stretch of trail meanders along open canal from Larkspur Park to Pinewood Park in southeast Bend. Walkers, hikers and joggers can see wildlife, juniper trees, rabbit brush and alpine current. Dog stations are at each end of the trail. The trail goes as far as Pilot Butte State Park.
Coyner Trail

The Coyner Trail extends approximately one mile from the corner of Ponderosa Park at 15th and Wilson, passing through Ponderosa Park then behind Bear Creek Elementary and the Presbyterian Church, and on up to the roundabout at Franklin and 8th St.

Homes in the Larkspur neighborhood were mostly built from the 1970’s to the 1990’s, with a few sections of recently built homes mixed in. The east part of Larkspur is where most of the new construction is happening for this neighborhood.
There is a mix of new subdivisions and older homes in this neighborhood. Subdivisions found within the Larkspur neighborhood include Bend Park, Tanglewood, Gardenside, Gleneden, Pettigrew Place, Pettigrew Highlands, Centennial Glen, Sundance Meadows, Hollow Pine Estate, Gannon Point, 27th St. Crossing, Desert Skies, and Bear Creek Estates.
